I have 3 domains;
I never use any of them but I think I am going to try update them now and do something with them. So today I went and updated each page; they are all identical portals now. That's until I can think of something to do with them. I might make a small review web site and I'll keep Fran of Viera up, seeing that it still gets plenty of hits. Apart from that though I don't know!
So I walked into my local GAME store the other day, you know the one. There is some guy wearing a GDI Command & Conquer shirt, I walk over and ask where he got his shirt from. He tells me the store gave it to him for promotions and I asked if they sold them. He went to look in the back, came back out and asked if I was pre-ordering the game. After I confirmed that I was, he walked back in and came out with 2 shirts. A Large Size GDI and a Medium sized NOD and gave me the "size?" question. So I got me a new NOD shirt "In NOD we trust", and it's freaking awesome. What's the best bit? It's free, and I got a wink from the staff! Haha! Yes, sometimes boobies do help. So my C&C3 is pre-ordered! Yeah baby!
Final Fantasy 12: RW is out in Japan right now and I thought I would give it a quick go. After about 15 minutes of playing I had seen 4 pretty amazing FMV's, battled 1 boss, had a few normal battle maps, went against another boss team, created a small monster army, got 2 new party members and learned the basic play of the game. Holy crap! I love when games pretty much throw you in and this one wastes no time.
The battle system works 100% with the touch pad. You can select your character directly or with the icon in the top left. Select the monster you want to attack and wallaa! Monster going down. You level up per map which works out as 'kill all the monsters on the map' and 'go to the goal'.
You'll get some more story line and head towards the next map. Very simple game play but honestly fun. I recommend you get yourself a copy when it's released in English.
Graphically I was about to be in awe when I saw the maps looked kind of 3-D. It's like a 3-D/2-D game. Some of the maps and structures will look 3-D but I believe it's some cunning 2-D trickery. All the characters are tiny 2-D pixels and for some reason memories of Grandia flood back. Don't expect anything amazing however, the game has a lot of FMV's to fit in and it's only 128mb in size!
Music comes direct from FF12, I am sure it's tweaked to save space but I could not hear the difference at all. It's a shame however that they did not make a new musical score. Square have always amazed me with their music in games and to hear a repeat was a bummer.
Fun Factor hit a good 7/10. I am sure it could become boring if it stays this easy all the way through however from the screen shots I've seen it gets a bit manic with the monster armies. I hope to see the story develop a lot more also. One thing I did not like is how it is 100% controlled via the touch pad (accept from the general select all/individual and OK). I liked how FF3 could work via both control's and I think they should of kept that now. Another thing I touched on earlier was the lack of new music near the start of this game, it makes me feel that Square got lazy. I know they could of done better.
Pimping myself out big time! Okay well that just means I've been sat in on my week off from work doing some serious gaming and socialising with gamers online. Sad? Maybe. Fun? Hells yeah. The arrival of my SNES has made me a happy girl again (oh I missed you so) and I am finally getting back into hand held gaming again, thank you R4!
So Japanator.com asked me to do their podcast! It was a laugh we pretty much went free-for-all on the whole thing and you can hear me embarrass myself with some "drunken-remixed-gems". It's worth listening just for that I think. I feel terribly British on the show being the only br1t-fag there, so sorry for the bad audio and lag. Anyway, if you are an anim?/Japan fan then check it out please!
This week I received my R4. What a beautiful creation, seriously! The package comes with the R4 card that goes into your DS. A micro-SD card and a micro-SD card reader. And an SD card that can take the micro-SD in it. The whole point of the R4 is to pirate games, naughty naughty! I never got into ROM's, I like OWNING the games. However when you venture out into the real world and work for a living you realise... I need more free stuff because I am poor. And I tell you living off of bread for 4 weeks after buying my 360 was not very fun! Did lose weight however so it might of been worth it. Anyway, downloaded some games and it's only convinced me to buy even more. After wasting a good ?20 on Puyo Pop Fever I stopped buying DS games, so the R4 has saved my relationship with my white little friend. I am sure it's only too long until the R4 is taken down and burned by NINTENDO hungry lawyers. However if you have a spare $60 then its worth getting, especially with Pokemon Pearl coming out which is amazingly fun by the way.
Gears of War's new update has caused some bad press of late. The roadie run has been completely destroyed and certain weapons have become too strong making my usual sneak and chainsaw tactic useless. Sad Panda right there. Well at least it stops me from shouting Leeroy Jenkins during the game, haha. On other 360 news, a new interface is coming but are the MSN add-ons going to be worth it? I used to be a huge fan of MSN but after using gtalk I've hardly logged into it. I don't think I'll be using it, I want to see my XBL friends online not my contacts list! I don't want to be bugged during my game with random messages because I get that a lot already! I see your ultimate integration, but it's not doing anything for me Microsoft. Goal for this weekend, PLAY MORE RAINBOW SIX VEGAS!
Who else has been enjoying C&C3? I have not played an RTS since well... C&C1! It's great to get back into the genre and I am finally going to get myself a copy of StarCraft seeing as the Koreans are crazy of that! Online play has been tricky and I know the team as desperately trying to fix all its glitches with a few patches. The first patch fixed my problems and the second patch seemed to destroy them all over again! So I am just awaiting the next patch. Playing on network play via Hamachi has proven good enough however and it's going well. The TANK RUSH's are getting OLD however, trying to learn a number of counters to defend from the RUSH but DAYMN! It's driving me nuts. Please grab a copy of the game though, send me a message and I'll get online/hamachi and try give it a go.
I LOVE THIS GAME! Seriously, play it. Play it hard! I was never a wiz at music games but DJ MAX PORTABLE has always offered me a chance to build skills. I love the series and I am glad they released a sequal. The second game is so much fun and I enjoy the new levelling system. I mentioned about this game in a previous post however I do really need to pimp this game out because it's previous version never hit European shores and I am guessing American stores too. The second volume comes with English, Korean and Japanese languages so don't even use the language barrier as an excuse! Play it with 4 buttons, 5, 6 or even 8 button modes. There is a freestyle mode which is basically a chance for you to try get MAX combo's and build them up. The levelling and money system make it harder to get songs and notes and such but it's so much more enjoyable. Seriously a gem of a game! Get it!
So mudkipz, i herd u lyke themz? I SURE DO! Started playing Pokemon Rescue Team and I got to choose a Mudkip to partner up with. That's EPIC right there! The game is very simple hit A to attack and B opens up a menu for special moves (pro tip: use more moves to gain higher EXP, lul). The storyline is obviously simple and happy and no pokemanz were harmed during the course of the game but it's a good time filler while you are awaiting Diamond and Pearls release. Pre-ordered mine and so has everyone else apparently!
Final Fantasy Chocobo Tales is a good laugh, although extremely cutesy I do enjoy the idea behind it all and it makes full use of what the DS has to offer and some pretty impressive graphics too! Oh I am sure a DS whore lately!
Epileptic Gaming is in CHINA this week at CHINASOFT. So if you want to see a bunch of over 6ft Americans tower above the Chinese and then talk about some video games, I'd check out their show. Check it out live at 7pm EST, that's Midnight for all us Britannians, the show usually lasts and hour and is a good laugh. I've called in a number of times during their other shows. So please check them out! Plus the chat is a good laugh!
